- W3011293386 abstract "Abstract In the present research, the role of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets in the enhancement of the photocatalytic activity of silver silicate (ASO) has been investigated. For this purpose ASO, ASO/GO, ASO/g-C3N4, have been synthesized and the results of experiments showed that the carbon-based nanosheets can efficiently enhance the photocatalytic activity of ASO. Based on the results of DRS, band gap energy, and PL analysis, introduction of GO in ASO structure can narrow down the band gap energy of the resultant nanocomposite and also can effectively decrease the electron-hole recombination rate. Whereas, the photocatalytic enhancement in ASO/CNN is mainly due to the reduced band gap energy and wide optical absorption. The influence of operational parameters, including pH, the weight percentage of nanosheets, initial concentration of Acid blue 25, catalyst dosage, and light intensity on degradation efficiency was surveyed. The results showed that 80 ppm of “ASO/GO (1 wt%) in pH = 7” or “ASO/CNN (0.5 wt%) in pH = 5” exhibited 90.22 % and 88.93 % degradation for 20 ppm dye solution under the same light intensities. The scavenger’s experiments indicated that superoxide anion radical plays a major role in dye photodegradation by ASO composites." @default.
