- W3011804731 abstract "Abstract Metal ions and some organic linkers are arranged in regular way by coordinate linkage to form metal organic frameworks (MOFs) in proper solvent, temperature, and atmospheric condition. MOFs have several unique characteristics which highlighted, over others, organic polymers and inorganic compounds. Generally, the nanoscale MOFs (NMOFs) show major significant role in biomedical application. This chapter describes several characterization techniques which are often used for investigation of the NMOFs. Due to regular orientation of metal and organic molecule, NMOFs are formed in several sizes with various morphologies and crystallizations which are investigated by DLS, FESEM, HRTEM, XRD, etc. By properly choosing the organic linkers, functionalized NMOFs can be synthesized easily which are characterized by various techniques like FTIR, NMR, XPS spectra, etc. All other properties like atomic composition, surface area, charge, thermal stability, fluorescence, etc. can be examined by EDX, BET analysis, ZETA potential, TGA, and PL, respectively. Biocompatibility tests should also be performed before application in biomedical field for cytotoxicity study." @default.
