The complexes exist in chloroform as cis-ZZ-[Pt(L-κS,O)2], cis-EE-[Pt(L-κS,O)2] and cis-ZE-[Pt(L-κS,O)2] configurational isomers revealing three well-resolved 195Pt{1H} resonances in the chemical shift range δ = −2710 to −2718 ppm. The results show that the presence of long chain N-alkyl or bulky N-phenyl groups favored a higher relative distribution of the cis-ZZ-[Pt(L-κS,O)2] isomer compared to complexes with smaller N-alkyl substituents. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies show that in chloroform, a cis-EE-[Pt(L1-κS,O)2] isomer is isolated when N-ethyl,N-methyl groups are attached to the thioamidic moiety, whereas cis-[Pt(L5-κS,O)2] having N-phenyl,N-isopropyl groups crystallized as a cis-ZZ isomer. Irradiation of a mixture of cis-ZZ/EZ/EE-[Pt(L-κS,O)2] configurational isomers in chloroform-d showed the formation of three additional 195Pt{1H} resonances ascribed to trans-ZZ/ZE/EE-[Pt(L-κS,O)2] geometric isomers in the range δ = −1950 to −2000 ppm." @default.
