Os resultados foram organizados em tres categorias ligadas ao conceito de sentido: os saberes escolares como instrumento de interlocucao com o mundo, como constituidor da identidade e como influencia reciproca entre professor e estudante na construcao da relacao com os saberes escolares. As relacoes de utilidade do saber, o saber enquanto instrumento de interlocucao com o mundo cotidiano e futuro, o saber como constituinte da identidade e um saber intensamente influenciado pela relacao professor-estudante foram as identificacoes mais presentes no estudo. Abstract The following research is about the importance and the meaning of learning school knowledge background for high school students and teachers in light of the theoretical concept of Bernard Charlot who brings the relationship with knowledge as a means of understanding subjects in schooling. The results of the research were organized into three categories linked to the concept of meaning: the school knowledge as an instrument of interlocution with the world, as a constituent of identity and as a reciprocal influence between teacher and student in the construction of relation to school knowledge. The mostly presented identifications in our study were the useful relations of knowledge, knowledge as an instrument of interlocution with the everyday and future world, knowledge as constituent of the identity and knowledge intensely influenced by the teacher-student relationship.
