- W3018196866 abstract "The low voltage ride through of wind generators often encounter the problem of heavy stator fault current as a result of very low impedance. Double Line fault is the most severe type of unsymmetrical faults affecting the rotor side converter of DFIG. Dynamic Voltage Restorers suggested for voltage compensation in DFIG can support LVRT within the limited range of its compensation capacity. The natural component of rotor voltage during asymmetrical fault is extremely high during super synchronous speed with a very high stator voltage dip ratio. A modification in the control strategy of DVR is proposed for the stator fault current reduction in DFIG by the injection of phase shifted voltage. The proposed Phase Shifted DVR (PSDVR) reduces the effect of phase angle jump in stator voltage introduced by sudden fault. To protect the rotor side converter (RSC) from any damage caused by natural component of rotor currents a virtual impedance based rotor inner current loop is suggested along with PSDVR. The addition of virtual impedance not only reduces the rotor natural current components but also effectively mitigates the stator natural current components. The method of determining the optimal value of virtual impedance for inner current loop of RSC is suggested. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy of DFIG during double line fault is verified by simulation results in MATLAB/SIMULINK" @default.
