- W3021344955 abstract "Herbal medicines are attractive as therapeutic agents for treating different diseases alone or in combination with chemical drugs. One herbs used abundantly in traditional medicine is Nigella sativa (black cumin). The most important component of this herb is thymoquinone. Studies reported that this medicinal herb has pharmacological effects on animals and humans, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, cardiovascular, antidiabetic, neuroprotective, and renoprotective effects. Also, studies have shown that this herb and its active compound have a role in regulating blood factors such as the lipid profile, blood glucose, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Clinical studies reported that the consumption of black cumin has beneficial effects in obese women, diabetic patients, and allergic patients. Also, animal studies have shown that N. sativa reduced anemia induced by chemical compounds. Thymoquinone inhibited platelet aggregation at a high dose and reduced erythrocyte damage induced by some chemical agents." @default.
