- W3021547741 abstract "Species used in ecotoxicological studies are called reference species. According to the objectives under consideration, different species can be chosen. There are, however, several parameters that may lead to misinterpretation of results, and numerous reservations occur when extrapolating beyond the studied species to the whole ecosystem. Thus we will focus on (1) the genetic diversity of organisms used in bioassays and their extrapolation to wild populations; (2) criteria to be taken into account for biomonitoring, and to approach the structure and functioning of the whole ecosystem; (3) the variability of responses through taxonomic levels, and the difficulties in clearly defining on what (species, strain, ecotype…) the studies will be carried out; and (4) the variability of responses as a result of confounding factors." @default.
