- W3021799663 abstract "This chapter covers the recent developments, synthetic approaches, and biochemical aspects of pteridines and folates.. The numbering system follows the IUPAC rules; however, the central C=C bond may be substituted. The 2,4(1H, H)-pteridinediones derivatives are called “lumazines.” Reduced compounds are indicated by the prefixes, “dihydro-”, “tetrahydro-” and so on, with numerals showing the positions of additional hydrogen atoms. The chapter discusses the general properties: solubility, the ionization, and UV spectra. The two main approaches to common pteridine syntheses are available. The different types of reactions are discussed, taking into consideration the different scenarios. The physical data is provided in a tabular form for 7, 8-dihydropterins and 5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydropterins. The natural petridines are widely distributed in nature and function as pigments, mainly in insects as biological markers and cofactors in enzymatic reactions. The various applications and finally the biosynthesis of pteridines are discussed." @default.
