- W3023151556 abstract "Publisher SummaryThe phylum coelenterates comprises two distinct groups: the Cnidarians, characterized by muscular movements, nematocyst presence, and occurrence as polyp or medusa; and the Ctenophores, which retain the ciliary locomotion of the planula, are without nematocysts, and are not assigned either to the polyp or medusa type. There are about 6000 species of Anthozoans, including anemones, corals, and sea pens; all are polyps, either solitary or colonial, and all are marine. There are about 80 species of Ctenophores, of which the largest is Cestus veneris, 1.5 m in length. Ctenophores, also known popularly as comb jellies or sea walnuts, have an apical statocyst, eight rows of combs, and usually two tentacles armed with numerous adhesive cells. This chapter lists out various trace metals which were studied and found in coelentrates and also highlights their importance and role with respect to their concentration in the environment." @default.
