- W3023295461 abstract "Abstract Nanotechnology is an emergent area performed at the nanoscale, by which the scientific basis of physics, chemistry, and biology may manipulate and create structures of individual molecules in the size between 1 and 1000 nm, referred to as nanoparticles (NPs) and nanopolymers (NPOs). On the other hand, nanocosmetics could be referred to as a new category of cosmetic products based on the carriers made by micro/nanoemulsions or innovative tissues realized by micro/nanopolymers, characterized by the inclusion of selected NPs. Both these structures possess a new molecular organization and nanosize dimension, giving them different physicochemical and biological properties due to the high ratio of surface area to volume, compared with larger particles. The great number of advantages assigned to NPs and NPOs makes them an important choice in formulating more effective nanocosmetics, which based on natural ingredients may be able to deliver the active ingredients into the right skin layer at the dose and time designed. This new technological approach is in line with the consumer request of innovative cosmetics possibly nature-oriented and made by new smart technologies. Thus the innovative nanocosmetics could be based on the new technical and natural wholistic approach that is able to provide products effective not only for regenerating the skin but also for protecting its structure against the increasing pollution, blue light, and allergenic ingredients of the environment. These new cosmeceuticals, based on natural ingredients carried by nanoemulsions or smart tissues, should act as protective and regenerative products for the healthy skin of women and men, as well as rejuvenation means for an increasing aged population who do not want to become old. Among the nanocosmetics just sold or to be introduced in the market in a shorter time, it seems interesting to underline the so-called cosmeceutical tissues made by natural oligosaccharide polymers, such as chitin nanofibrils and nanolignin. These innovative tissues, easily biodegraded by human and environmental enzymes and characterized for their safeness and effectiveness, are skin-friendly and eco-friendly, because they are obtained from waste biomaterials. Moreover, differently from the nanoemulsions, the tissues are free of emulsifiers, preservatives, colors, fragrances, and other chemicals." @default.
