- W3023447725 abstract "Abstract The growth of world’s population and the increasing outdoor and indoor pollution exceeding the World Health Organization cause every year the premature aging of around 7 million people. As a consequence, the presence of green house gas (GHG) emissions and oxidant compounds produced by the industrial processes and the in-house particulates represented the fifth ranking global risk factor of premature death in 2015. GHG emissions, in fact impacting the biological functions of the cells, provoke reduction of the skin barrier, decrease of its immune defense functions, increase of oxidative stress and inflammaging with a consequent appearing of premature aging, malignancy, and increased mortality. Thus the necessity to protect and treat the skin by innovative and active cosmeceutical-tissues, realized by biodegradable polymers. These smart nonwoven tissues are obtained by waste materials and based on the use of natural polymers, such as chitin nanofibrils and lignin. They, having the same structural organization of the natural extracellular matrix, are not only able to neutralize the toxic air particulate, but seem also able to slowdown fine lines and wrinkles of a prematurely aged skin. The cosmeceutical-tissues proposed, made by food waste, could represent an innovative skin armamentarium of medical and cosmetic uses, useful also to safeguard the natural raw materials for the incoming generations." @default.
