- W3027268671 abstract "The importance of the paper is determined by the significant character of the issue of identifying and developing giftedness throughout the world. The authors of the paper present the results of an empirical study of students with signs of academic giftedness. It has been proved that the identification and development of giftedness requires changes in the conditions of the educational environment, including a system of comprehensive educational programs and plans prepared in view of psychological and pedagogical support. It also involves training highly qualified specialists to meet the requirements of working with gifted students; systematic work with parents of talented young people, as well as the rejection to use strict definitions and standards to select children for training in special programs of increased complexity. The conclusions have been drawn that broader definitions of giftedness and learning difficulties are needed that could take into account the exclusiveness of students, and the choice of programs should be more flexible to respond to the individual needs of potentially gifted children. The results of an empirical study also made it possible to state that the complex nature of human abilities determines the need to develop individualized training programs for all students, based on their strengths and corrective weaknesses. The training of talented students should be aimed at developing a high level of abstract and problematic thinking, creativity. It is also important to create conditions for the implementation of an individual development path both in areas related to giftedness and in problematic subject areas. In addition, the paper presents the technology of organizing open space as a way to modernize the system of education to develop giftedness among students." @default.
