- W3028773911 abstract "Objective To investigate the epidemiological features and trends of Colles' fractures in the Third Affiliated Hospital to Hebei Medical University from 2003 through 2012.Methods The data of human fractures treated between 2003 January to 2012 December at our hospital were collected through the PACS system and case reports checking system.Colles' fractures were chosen.Those between January 2003 and December 2007 were assigned into group A while those between January 2008 and December 2012 into group B.Comparison was done between the 2 groups to analyze epidemiological features and trends regarding distributions of gender and age.Results A total of 5,980 Colles' fractures were included,involving 2,521 males and 3,459 females,accounting for 31.57％ (5,980/18,940) of the ulnar and radial fractures and 4.73％ (5,980/126,479) of human fractures at the same time.The age distribution showed that Colles' fractures predominated in males of 11 to 20 years old and in females of 51 to 60 years old.There were 3,011 and 2,969 cases in groups A and B respectively,accounting for 29.55％ (3,011/10,191) and 33.94％ (2,969/8,749) of the ulnar and radial fractures (P ＜0.05),and 4.61％ (3,011/65,267) and 4.85％ (2,969/61,212) of the human fractures respectively (P ＜ 0.05).The proportion of females in group B (59.21％,1,758/2,969) was higher than in group A (56.49％,1,701/3,011) (P ＜ 0.05).The proportion of patients older than 50 years old in group B (55.68％,1,653/2,969) was higher than in group A (48.29％,1,454/3,011) (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions The current investigation about Colles' fractures reveals their epidemiological characteristics.The peak age of Colles' fracture ranged from 11 to 20 years old in man and from 51 to 60 years old in women.The women and elderly victims of colles' fracture significantly increased in the last decade.Key words: Colles' fracture; Epidemiology; Sex distribution; Age distribution" @default.
