- W303040982 abstract "The use of composite materials with continuous fibres in the aircraft and aerospace industries requires reliable and precise techniques and methods of prediction of the rupture. There is a great number of formalisms to dimension the structures in composites. The choice among these formalisms is difficult because of their diversity and because they must be validated by biaxial tests still difficult to perform. This work aims to develop a theoretical approach permitting to validate and to choose the failure criterion to be used. The comparison is concerned not only with the macroscopic failure but also with the failure succession and the failure modes. The most answered failure criteria are tested by using two approaches of the stiffness reduction. Comparisons made between the results obtained by the simulation and the experimental results show the accuracy of the criteria used and the choice of the best criterion is then possible.
