- W3030641577 abstract "Objective To observe the microvessel density and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor 2 (VEGFR2) in mucosa and submucosal tissue of the patients with hemorrhoids and study its relationship with clinical severity.Methods Sixty cases of hemorrhoids and 20 cases of no-hemorrhoids as control group were enrolled.The expression of VEGF and VEGFR2,and the microvessel density were detected by immunohistochemical staining (IHC) and scored according to the IHC result.The clinical relevance of the expression of VEGF,VEGFR2 and the microvessel density with the clinical indexing of hemorrhoid patients was analyzed.Results As contrasted with control group,neovascularization in hemorrhoid group was obviously increased.As compared with the control group,the average staining score of VEGF and VEGFR2 was 2.83 ± 0.12 and 2.07 ± 0.11 in hemorrhoid group (P ＜ 0.01 for both).There was significant difference in the VEGF staining score (P ＜ 0.05) between degree Ⅲ hemorrhoid and degree Ⅳ hemorrhoid.Conclusion VEGF-VEGFR plays an important role in the microvascular development of hemorrhoids,and the expression of VEGF is related with the clinical severity.Key words: Hemorrhoids; Microvessel density; Vascular endothelial growth factor; Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2" @default.
