- W3031778644 abstract "Objective To analyze ECG statistical data obtained during medical tour in the 3 Caribbean countries, and to reveal the detectable rate and reasons for abnormal ECGs among various kinds of people in these regions. Methods The recorded ECG data were classified and divided into subgroups, then, statistical and retrospective analyses were made accordingly. Results The detectable rate of abnormal ECGs among the Chinese or overseas Chinese was lower than that of local residents, with significant difference, when comparisons were made between them (P < 0.05).This was perhaps due to good life habit and awareness of self health care. The most prominent abnormality in ECG among the local residents in the 3 Caribbean countries was the change in ST-T segment, which might be related with their diet. The abnormal ECG detectable rate of the mid-and-old-aged group(96.5%) was significantly higher than that of the young-aged group (34.3%),with statistical significance (P < 0.01).However,no significant differences could be detected in the abnormal detectable rates between the male and the female of various groups (P > 0.05),when comparisons were made between them. The incidence of ST-T change, left ventricular high voltage,atrial-ventricular conduction block and remote cardiac infarction in the mid-and-old-aged group was obviously higher than that of the young-aged group, indicating that abnormal change in ECG was closely related with the senior age. Conclusions ECG monitoring was an important accessory tool in the fulfillment of medical service delivered to residents in the 3 Caribbean countries.Key words: Caribbean Sea; ECG examination" @default.
