- W3031802685 abstract ":Objective To explore therole of leptin in inflammatory reaction and malnutrition in patients with chronicobstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and the value of leptin on evaluating the severity ofcondition in patients with COPD. Methods Forty COPD in acute exacerbation and 20 healthyaged people were selected. The smoking informations were recorded. Routinely, thespirometry, arterial blood gas, serum albumin and blood analysis, body height and weightwere measured. The serum leptin and interleukin-6(IL-6)leveis were detected by ELISA. Thecorrelation between the serum leptin level and IL-6 level, lung function, blood gasanalysis index, nutrition index, and so on, were analyzed. The serum leptin and IL-6levels of patients with COPD in acute exacerbation and symptomatic paracmasis and controlswere compared. The serum leptin levels of patients with different smoking status, nutritional status, severity of condition, were also compared. Results ①Theserum leptin level, IL-6 level, leucocyte count, percentage of neutrophih partial pressureof arterial carbon dioxide in patients with COPD in the acute exacerbation were highersignificantly than those in symptomatic paracmasis and controls. The serum albumin, partialpressure of arterial oxygen and arterial oxygen saturation were lower significantly thanthose in symptomatic paracmasis. ②The serum leptin level inpatients with COPD in the acute exacerbation had positive correlation with IL-6 level, leucocyte count, percentage of neutrophil, partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide, and had negative correlation with partial pressure of arterial oxygen, arterial oxygensaturation, percentage of forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV:%pred), serumalbumin. There were no correlation between the serum leptin level and ratio of FEV_1 toforced vitalcapacity, body mass index, smoking index. ③There was no difference inthe serum leptin levels in groups with different nutritional status. ④There was significant deviationin the serum leptin levels in groups with different smoking status and severity ofcondition. Conclusions Leptin is relation to the systemic inflammatory reaction in COPDand the serum leptin level can be reflection of the severity of condition in patients withCOPD.Key words: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; Leptin; Systemicinflammatory reaction; Nutritional status; Smoking" @default.
