- W3032190710 abstract "Objective To investigate the treatments for the wounds on the point of puncture and red swollen skin after removal of superficial venous catheter so as to promote wound healing, subside the redness and swelling of the skin, reduce infection and patients' suffering. Methods 100 patients who had wounds on the points of puncture and red swollen skin after removal of superficial venous catheters were randomly divided into control group (n = 50) and experimental group (n = 50 ). In the control group, the wounds on the points of puncture and the swollen skin were disinfected routinely, then covered with the sterile dressings for 24 - 72 hours after the surrounding skin was dry. Besides the treatment of the control group, the swollen wounds in the experimental group were covered with a sterile iodophor pad after disinfected routinely, then covered with the sterile dressings. Subsidence rate of the swollen skin, healing rate of the wounds, and patients' subjective symptoms in both groups were observed and then compared. Results The total healing rate for the control group and the experimental group were 80%, 98% , respectively( X^2 = 18.6, P 〈 0. 05 ), and there was statistical significance between them; healing duration for the control group and the experimental group was (4.50±1.28 ) days, (3.26±0. 99 ) days, respectively, and there was statistical significance between them ( t = 4. 62, P 〈 0. 05). Conclusions Covering the red swollen skin after removal of superficial venous catheters following the routine sterilization with a sterile iodophor pad could promote subsidence of the red and swollen skin ; therefore it is worthy of clinical application.Key words: Superficial venous catheter; Wounds ; Healing; Red swollen" @default.
