EnglishObjectives: The study shows the development and the factorial validation of the Nursing Burnout Questionnaire (CDPE), an instrument for the specific assessment of burnout in nursing. The questionnaire comprises several scales focused on the evaluation of the most relevant variables in the burnout process inside this profession. By the present study, the internal structure of the questionnaire was analysed as well as the reliability of its different scales and the structural interdependence between them. Methods: The development of the questionnaire was based on theoretical information, semistructured interviews and group discussions. After a pilot study with a sample of 30 people, the resulting instrument was filled in by 389 nurses working in 5 hospitals in Madrid. A factorial analysis was carried out for each block that composes the questionnaire (antecedents, consequences, mediators and burnout syndrome) by using both principal axes and oblimin rotation methods. Internal consistency was established by Cronbach alpha coefficient. Finally, the correlation between the scales belonging to each block was assessed in order to determine the structural relationship between them. Results: The factorial solution represents a support for the construct validity of the instrument, and corresponds highly to the initial theoretical framework. Cronbach alphas were high for the different scales. The relations between them confirm the theoretical structure proposed in the questionnaire. Conclusion: Although the analyses carried out show CDPE is a valid and reliable instrument, further studies are necessary to confirm the goodness of the instrument." @default.
