- W3033756023 abstract "Abstract Due to enormous growth in industrial activity and urbanization release of a wide variety of organic compounds increased the use of organic compounds, resulting in serious environmental issues. Some of these compounds are highly toxic in nature and cause an adverse impact on health and the environment, including food chains. In recent years, phytoremediation is found to be a better approach to remediate organic contaminants. But potential of native plants for phytoremediation is limited hence, to overcome this problem researchers have developed many genetically modified plants having excellent degradation potential. To enhance the efficacy of phytoremediation, over expression of desired gene induces the metabolism, uptake, and transportation of specific organic pollutants. Expression of suitable gene in root system also enhances rhizodegradation of specific organic xenobiotics. Genes from humans, microorganisms, plants, and animals are successfully transferred into desired plants. The most promising development in transgenic technology is the multiple gene insertion like cytochrome P450, glutathione S-transferases, glutathione synthetase, etc." @default.
