The breakdown reactions of cyclic oxonium derivatives of cobalt bis (1,2-dicarbollide) and closo-dodecaborate anions with a series of 7-hydroxy-3-substituted coumarins led to conjugates attached via C-7 position of the coumarin unit. The corresponding reactions of cobalt bis (1,2-dicarbollide) anion with 3-(4-hydroxybenzoyl)-7-methoxy-2H-chromen-2-one led to conjugates attached via C-3 position. Novel conjugates were isolated in the form of alkali metal salts. Therefore, these conjugates are of interest for the fluorescent study in aqua media." @default.
