- W3036869100 abstract "Lattice imaging has been utilized in order to detect localized, plane-byplane variations in composition through correspondence with fringe spacing variations in the image. In this way direct observations concerning defects and phase transformation processes in materials are obtained. Since lattice imaging pictures are usually taken at high magnification (a magnification at the final screen of approximately x500,000 is generally necessary for a line resolution ∽2Å), the analysis of the fringe spacings must be performed very carefully. Three different methods were employed, viz., A) Microdensitometer trace analysis: The individual fringe spacings can be found by directly measuring the distance from peak to peak on a microdensitometer plot of the image and dividing by the appropriate magnification. The exact position of each peak sometimes becomes unidentifiable due to lack of contrast in the negative near the fringe." @default.
