- W3042663669 abstract "Nowadays, regarding numerous benefits of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, this article presents a feasibility study about an installed CHP system driven by gas engine in Tehran which has a hot and dry climate. Experimental tests reveal the impacts of ambient temperature, different power loads and engine coolant temperature on the system performance. Then in order to study the system feasibility, simulation of CHP systems with two different sizes (33 kVA and 55 kVA) is done. First, the maximum area of different types of building in which recycled heat can provide thermal comfort are determined. It shows that the generated heat via 33 and 55 kVA CHP package is sufficient for the heating of 1109 and 1570 m2 of a residential building. Secondly, exergy analysis shows engine and shell-and-tube heat exchanger are responsible for the most amounts of exergy destruction. Finally, economic evaluation considers different financial scenarios that are available in Iran with respect different natural gas and electric prices. The payback period for the default scenario is 5.4 and 3.32 years for the 33 and 55 kVA system, respectively." @default.
