- W3044253124 abstract "To protect equipment and workers against thermal and fast neutrons irradiation within nuclear facilities, the design and development of high-performance neutron-shielding composite materials have become an attractive area of research for both scientists and industrialists. As a shielding material, thermosetting polymers reinforced by inorganic filler-based composites are the most predominant materials used for this purpose. In addition to their neutron-shielding efficiency, these materials exhibit lightweight as compared with concerts and metals, good mechanical properties, better wear and weather resistance, and improved thermal stability. The majority of the effective moderate and thermal neutron-shielding composites are produced by a combination of borated fillers and low-A stage thermosetting matrices. In addition, several types of thermosetting hybrid materials are utilized for simultaneously shielding gamma ray, X-ray, and fast neutron emissions. This chapter summarizes the preparation methods, properties, and neutron-shielding performance of various thermosetting composites used as neutron-shielding materials." @default.
