- W3048276422 abstract "Introduction: Restoration of endodontically treated teeth with huge destruction is as yet clinical challenge, particularly because of the loss of strength characteristics related with the removal of pulp and surrounding dentin tissues. The aim of the study is to assess the fracture toughness of endodontically treated teeth when restored with Resin Nano Ceramic CAD CAM inlays in three different cavity configurations when luted with resin cement.Material and methods: Thirty sound maxillary premolars were endodontically treated. They were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n=10), in which, teeth were prepared to receive CAD/CAM Resin Nano ceramic restorations. The fracture toughness of CAD/CAM Resin Nano Ceramic inlay restorations luted with resin cement was tested in a Universal Testing Machine and the force required to fracture the restoration was recorded in Newton units. Type of fracture of restoration was identified and classified as either Restorable or Non Restorable. One by one each value was recorded and tabulated.Results: n=20 (66.7%) of the fractures were restorable and 100% of the inlay restorations were restorable in MOD with Occlusal Coverage after fracture off the restoration.Conclusion: Within the limitations of this in-vitro investigation the following conclusion can be drawn. There was significant difference in fracture toughness comparing teeth restored with CAD CAM Resin Nano Ceramic with different cavity configurations. Fracture Toughness of MO cavity was recorded to be highest with 686.57 N ± 80.06 N. MOD Cavity with Occlusal coverage when restored with CAD CAM Resin Nano Ceramic showed 100% restorability after load to fracture. MO, MOD and MOD With Occlusal Coverage restored with CAD- CAM Resin Nano Ceramic showed 66.7% restorability after load to fracture. MOD Cavity with Occlusal coverage when restored with CAD CAM Resin Nano Ceramic showed the least fracture resistance values 463.46±199.83 N, but it is adequate and favorable to withstand normal-maximum biting force 422.93 ± 22.2N." @default.
