Three-dimensional mapping of the second-harmonic generation from monoclinic dysprosium- and europium-doped strontium aluminates, a popular persistent luminescent material, allows us to unambiguously visualize and reveal for the first time the presence of micrometer-sized structured domains from such microparticles.
