• W3048554007 abstract "The present study was conducted to elicit the effectiveness of nursing care on clients with Osteoporosis. One group pre- test post- test design was adopted. A total of 30 clients with Osteoporosis who met the inclusion criteria were selected from orthopaedic ward in Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Melmaruvathur, Kanchipuram District. By means of convenient sampling technique the study participants were selected and individual care was given. The investigator introduced her to the clients and developed a therapeutic relationship with the clients.Then demographic data about the clients were collected with the help of questionnaire and a Index of Severity of Osteoporosis by Lequesne rating scale was formulated to assess the health status of clients with Osteoporosis. Score was given accordingly. At the time of initial assessment out of 30 clients 2 (6.7 percentage) were in severe health deterioration, 22 (73.3 percentage) were in moderate health deterioration and 6 (20 percentage) are in mild health deterioration.After an individualized nursing care as per the nursing protocol and nursing process. Day by day there was significant improvement in the health status of the clients. Finally the client were evaluated with the same tools, at that time out of 30 clients 5 (16.7) were healthy, 24 (70 percentage) are in mild health deterioration, only 1 (3.3 percentage) are in moderate health deterioration and 5 (16.7 percentage) were healthy. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.CONCLUSION:The improvement score mean with 13.83 and standard deviation of 3.64. The S value is 5.38 which was highly significant at p <0.05 level. The correlation value shows there was no significance in demographic variables like age, gender, occupation, family monthly income, marital status, religion, family history of co- morbid disease, diet and bad habits. The value shows there was significance in demographic variables like educational status. And the effectiveness of nursing care and improvement of health status of clients with Osteoporosis. Thus the effectiveness of nursing care was independent of the demographic variables. The overall finding showed that the nursing care was very effective in improving the health status in terms of clients minimal pain, healthy skin texture, ability to move extremities, full range of motion, good muscle strength, self use of assistive devices and activity of daily living with very little assistance, performance of exercise, free from complication such as fracture. Improved coping abilities of client as well as family members. So finally, it was achieved and thus concluded that nursing care was highly effective for clients with Osteoporosis." @default.
