- W3048721818 abstract "The aquaculture industry is dependent upon the continuous availability of quality juveniles of fish species for culture that in turn depend on the survival and growth of the fish larvae. Attempt to supply enzymes in artificial diets to fish larvae to improve digestion demonstrated elevated levels of gut enzyme activity but no improvement in growth. Greater emphasis has been placed in fish larval nutrition studies, where enzyme profiles are used to formulate appropriate diets. It is also known that trypsin specific activity in fish larvae is related to feed intake and nature of dietary protein or nature of weaning diets. This long period of slow growth could be reduced by the stimulation of digestive enzymes secretion by growth promoters/feed additives. It has been suggested that diets containing oligopeptides better correspond to the digestive features of fish larvae allowing a better nutritional status and then an adequate postnatal development." @default.
