- W3080203423 abstract "Genito-pelvic pain is the most common form of genito-pelvic dysesthesia, the term used to describe dysfunctional sensations such as pain, itching, and persistent arousal. This chapter focuses on pain but the neurological assessment is the same for all genito-pelvic dysesthesia. Three office-based clinical neurological testing procedures are used for ascertaining the source of the pathology in women with genito-pelvic pain. These procedures include quantitative sensory testing (QST), sacral dermatome testing, and bulbocavernosus reflex latency testing. QST consists of cold and warm temperature perception threshold testing and vibration perception threshold testing. Genito-pelvic pain can result from various neurological pathophysiologies in different locations along diverse neurological pathways from the genital end organ to the brain. Women may have clinically significant genito-pelvic pain resulting from neurological pathophysiology that acts to interfere with intimacy and quality of life." @default.
