Information about the potential cytotoxic activity of the H . roxburghii rhizome is unknown at this time. So the purpose of this research is to knowing the potential cytotoxic activity of the H . roxburghii rhizome based on the bioprospection of chemotaxonomic studies of the genus Hedychium spp. The results showed that the rhizomes of H . coronarium , H . spicatum , H . ellipticum , H . forestii , H . longipetalum , H . gardenerianum and H . yunnanense have similar chemical content to each other that have potential cytotoxic activity. This is based on LC 50 values obtained using the BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) and MTT (Microculture Tettrazolium Salt) methods. So from this, chemical compounds that have the potential for cytotoxic activity contained in the rhizomes of various plants of the genus Hedychium, may also be contained in the rhizome of H. roxburghii Then the rhizome can be said to have the potential for cytotoxic activity as well Keyword: Rhizome of Hedychium , Cytotoxic Abstrak . Rimpang tumbuhan dengan genus Hedychium diketahui memiliki potensi aktivitas sitotoksik. Beberapa diantaranya spesies dari tumbuhan tersebut adalah H . coronarium , H . spicatum , H . ellipticum , H . forestii H . longipetalum , H . garderianum , H . yunnanense dan H . roxburghii. Namun terkait informasi potensi aktivitas sitotoksik dari rimpang H . roxburghii belum diketahui hingga saat ini. Sehingga tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi aktivitas sitotoksik dari rimpang H . roxburghii berdasarkan bioprospeksi studi kemotaksonomi terhadap genus Hedychium spp. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pada rimpang tumbuhan H . coronarium , H . spicatum , H . ellipticum , H . forestii H . longipetalum , H . garderianum dan H . yunnanense memiliki kemiripan kandungan senyawa kimia antar satu sama lain yang berpotensi sitotoksik. Hal ini berdasarkan nilai LC 50 yang diperoleh menggunakan metode metode BSLT ( Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) dan MTT Microculture Tettrazolium Salt ) assay . Sehingga dari hal tersebut, kemungkinan senyawa yang berpotensi sitotoksik yang terkandung dalam rimpang berbagai tumbuhan dari genus Hedychium spp juga terkandung pula pada rimpang tumbuhan gandasoli hutan ( H. roxburghii ).
