- W3080346512 abstract "High damping Fe–Cr alloys attract much attention for their higher damping capacity. So far, the alloying technique is of importance to achieving a higher damping capacity of the alloys; however, the effect of vanadium on the magnetomechanical hysteresis effect (MMHE) is unclear. Herein, we observed the optical microstructure and domain structures by using an optical microscope. The damping behavior was measured by an inverted torsion pendulum. The magnetostriction coefficient was measured by XRD, and the magnetic properties were measured by a vibration sample magnetometer. We demonstrate that the crystal volume of the Fe–16Cr-2.5Mo based alloys contracts due to the addition of V. In addition, the V element results in a negative volume magnetostriction of the alloys. Their ferromagnetic damping value depends on the absolute value of saturation magnetostriction coefficient, whether the saturation magnetostriction coefficient is positive or negative." @default.
