Las variables que presentaron un p≤0,20 en el analisis bruto se incluyeron en el modelo ajustado. De los 452 ancianos evaluados, el 63,3% eran mujeres. Las variables sexo, fumar y consumo de medicamentos presentan p ≤ 0.20 bruto analisis y se incluyen en el modelo ajustado. No se observo asociacion de forma combinada e independiente del comportamiento sedentario y nivel de actividad fisica con sobrepeso y obesidad en ancianos. Se sugiere que nuevos estudios con criterios estandarizados de medicion del comportamiento sedentario y nivel de actividad fisica sean realizados con el intuito de comprender la relacion entre estas variables. EnglishThe objective of the study was to analyze the combined and independent association of sedentary behavior and physical activity with overweight and obesity in the elderly. This is a cross-sectional study conducted in individuals of both sexes, aged ≥60 years. A structured questionnaire containing sociodemographic and behavioral information was applied. Sedentary behavior and physical activity were assessed through the long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The body weight and height were measured. Overweight and obesity were determined by body mass index. The multinomial regression was used to evaluate the association between sedentary behavior and level of physical activity with overweight and obesity. The variables that presented a p≤0.20 in the crude analysis were included in the adjusted model. Of the 452 elderly evaluated, 63.3% were women. The variables gender, smoking and medication consumption presented p≤0.20 in the crude analysis and were included in the adjusted model. It was not observed a combined and independent association of the sedentary behavior and level of physical activity with overweight and obesity in the elderly.
