- W3083729642 abstract "Perovskite bismuth ferrite is a distinctive multiferroic material that has attracted broad interests due to their potential applications. In this study, thin films of BiFeO3 (BFO) and BiFe0.5Mn0.5O3 (BFMO) have been prepared by the sol-gel spin coating method. The effect of the Mn dopant on the crystalline structure and optical bandgap has been explored. The XRD analysis indicates the prepared thin film possesses rhombohedral structure. The average crystallite size of BFO and BFMO is 25.51 nm, and 28.87 nm respectively. UV–visible absorption spectra reveal a reduction in the energy bandgap from 2 eV for BFO to 2.42 eV for BFMO which may be related to the increase of crystallite size. For the first time, the stereometric 3-D surface topography and fractal features were analyzed using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to understand the impact of Mn doping on the nanostructure morphology of these films." @default.
