- W3083993306 abstract "The Shegaya fields are located in the south-west of Kuwait; Field-C produces water from the Dammam Limestone aquifer while Field-E contains dual-completion wells that tap both the Kuwait Group and Dammam Limestone aquifers. The hydrology of the study area is discussed with emphasis on the hydrometeorology, where the potential evapotranspiration is estimated by different methods and the rainfall is analyzed using the data available from all the meteorological stations in Kuwait. The geology of the area is described starting with a summary of the regional geology of the Arabian Peninsula followed by the general topography of Kuwait including the major topographic features. Also, the structural and tectonic features of the area are defined, along with the stratigraphy of Kuwait, placing most emphasis on the recent deposits, the Kuwait Group and part of the Hasa Group (including the Dammam Limestone). The hydrogeology is introduced with a description of the aquifer systems in the north-eastern Arabian Peninsula and in Kuwait. Then the ground water level fluctuations and contours are considered for the study area along with the movement of ground water including the flow regimes and flow nets for each aquifer. The aquifer properties comprising transmissivity, permeability and storage coefficient are determined by different analytical and numerical methods for both aquifers. Then a comparison between the results of the two techniques is made, and finally the results are presented in tables and maps. The efficiency and performance of the wells in the two fields are evaluated through the analysis of available step-tests conducted in both aquifers by different methods. Also, the design and construction of the wells are discussed for both the dual-completion wells in Field-E and the Dammam Limestone aquifer wells in Field-C. Furthermore, the design of the well-fields themselves is considered. The ground water quality of the study area is evaluated by specifying the hydrochemistry of the aquifer and the hydrochemical changes along the direction of flow. After examination of the reliability of the collected data, the hydrochemical properties of the ground water are interpreted by various methods. The suitability of these ground waters for irrigation is also discussed and evaluated. Finally, all the data are synthesised as part of a numerical model to simulate the conditions in the aquifer system in order to interpret past conditions and predict responses with regard to future production from these fields and other fields in the vicinity of the study area." @default.
