Experimental investigation is conducted using Compact Tension Shear (CTS) mixed mode (I/II) fracture specimens having a/W = 0.5. The specimen plates of thickness 4.5 mm were carefully fabricated using hand lay-up technique. The experiments were conducted for seven loading angles varying from 0° (Mode-I) to 90° (Mode-II) with an increment of 15°. The translaminar fracture toughness and energy release rates were estimated for various loading angles based on the peak loads obtained by experiments. The results indicates that the energy release rate of glass/epoxy composite considered in the analysis is more in pure Mode-I loading than pure Mode-II loading, whereas mixed mode (I/II) loading conditions are in between." @default.
