- W3085742720 abstract "Abstract The now well-established area of femtosecond dynamics (so-called femtochemistry) accesses the motion of nuclei: this nuclear rearrangement is the later development of chemistry generated through the attosecond time scale rearrangement and interaction of the electrons. Thus, electron and nuclear dynamics at the combined (as and fs) ultrafast time-resolved regimes can reveal a rather complete representation of the underlying interactions behind structure, dynamics, and chemistry in atomic, molecular, cluster, and condensed phase systems. On the other hand, photoelectron, VU, VUV, EUV, IR/UV, etc., spectroscopies represent a “static” or “nondynamic” approach to the study of weakly or noncovalently bound systems and species, and can also reveal important data, and thereby insight, into the electronic structure of both anions and neutrals. Photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) generates the energy difference between an anion and its commensurate neutral, giving both their geometrical and electronic structures in many instances. As connected through theoretical quantum chemical studies, both ultrafast and photoelectron spectroscopic exploration of the same systems can present a significant picture of the behavior and structure of molecular systems important for energy storage and release systems, biological systems (e.g., DNA bases and related species, and saccharides and related species), and inorganic metal-containing clusters (e.g., of catalytic activity). In accord with the above general theses, we present in this chapter a coordinated study of a number of molecules, clusters, and associated processes, both experimentally and theoretically, that are of current interest in our laboratories in Bangalore and Fort Collins at the of writing the chapter." @default.
