- W3087515731 abstract "The Fusarium species are the common cause of most plant diseases. They are known to infect all parts of the plant and induce cell death. During their growth on a host plant, they produce an array of toxins that are both phytotoxic and mycotoxic. In plants, during infection, these toxins are known to modulate plant physiology, favoring Fusarium colonization and multiplication. These toxins remain on the infected agriculture products and enter the food chain, causing mycotoxicosis in domestic animals, livestock, and humans. Mycotoxins have been reported in various food products such as cereals, legumes, pulses, processed food products, fish, and meat. Strict regulations have been imposed on the import of agriculture goods contaminated with mycotoxins to protect humans and livestock from the potential harm caused by mycotoxins. Therefore, there is a need to understand the complex network of toxin production, regulation, and secretion as well as its effect on living forms. This chapter reviews the various toxins produced by the Fusarium species and their impact on plant, animal, and human health." @default.
