- W3087801113 abstract "Peritonitis is a common complication in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) , leading to switch the treatment to hemodialysis .The objective of this study was to identify incidence of peritonitis and self-care behavior of patients treated with CAPD at the Jainad Narendra Hospital .We used cross-sectional descriptive study of hospital databases during January 1 to December 31, 2017, and interview of out-patients on CAPD diagnosed with infections from peritoneal dialysis about self-care behaviors. We analyzed data using descriptive statistics .We included 90 CAPD patients, and found reports of infections from peritoneal dialysis 78 times .The incidence of infections was 0.87 infections/patient/year classified as peritonitis 43times (55.13%), exit site infection 34times (43.59%) and one tunnel infection (1.28%) From the interview of self-care behaviors of patients with peritonitis, we found 34 reports of less thorough cleaning of the body and the peritoneal dialysis equipment (43.59%), 25 reports of failure to follow standard procedures or protocol violations times(32.05%), and 9 reports of poor living environment (11.54%).High rate of infections from peritonitis was found in this study. Less thorough cleaning of the body and the peritoneal dialysis equipment, failure to follow standard procedures, and poor living environment were prevalent in patients with CAPD. These results may help to identify patients at risks of peritonitis at the beginning of the treatment with CAPD." @default.
