- W3088894192 abstract "This paper discusses the finite element modelling of reinforced concrete beams with steel fibers. Based on available experimental tests, the reinforced concrete beams are simply supported, two concentrated loads, without stirrups and have different steel fibers volume ratio range from 0 to 2%. Each beam was loaded up to failure to record the ultimate shear force and shear force-midspan deflection relationship, alsothecracking patterns of the modelled beams was recorded. The results of proposed nonlinear model using Ansys (V15.0) program are close to the experimental results. The maximum differences in ultimate shear force value for all the modelled beams are 7.7%.The FE values of the shear forces were compared with the values calculated byNarayanan and Darwish equation, Ashour SA et al. equation and Kwak Y-K et al. equation. It was observed that the calculated values of the shear forces according to Kwak Y-K et al.equation are the closer to the FE values with mean difference percentage 8.6%. Also, the influence of shear span to depth ratio on the ultimate shear force values was studied. It was found an increase in shear span to depth ratio by about (12.5, 25, 37.5 and 50) % causes an average decrease in shear force capacity by about (23, 29, 34 and 41)% for the modelled beams. A comparison has been done between shear force obtained by FE method and calculated by Kwak Y-K et al. equation for the same shear span to depth ratios.
