- W3089156430 abstract "Background: School children face many health problems that related to unhealthy behavior including communicable and non-communicable diseases. So health literacy was challenged to promote ＂Thai Ten Commandment of Health＂ through school-based intervention. Aims: To investigate the promoting health literacy on ＂Thai Ten Commandment of Health＂ to change childhood behavior. Methods: A randomized control trial study of a multi-stage random of 182 students among the forth through the sixth graders in the northeastern of Thailand that was divided into two groups; 94 experimental group and 88 control group. The health literacy skills were done on group activities in the schools to increase student's knowledge, competence to access, communication, self-management, decisions making, literacy media concern in everyday life concerning ＂Thai Ten Commandment of Health.＂ The duration of implementation was 16 weeks. Data were collected by self-administrative questionnaires. Paired Sample t-test and Independent t-test were analysis at 0.05 level of significance. Results: The results revealed that after interventions, the experimental group had higher mean score of health literacy behavior than those before and higher than the control group (p-value ＜ 0.001). The parents gave the moderate support to food control and time television for prevention obese children. Conclusions: The study shows the effectiveness health literary program for positive healthy early life related behaviors and can be generally recommended that schools should provide health literary program on health issue in regularly." @default.
