- W3092476707 abstract "To resolve the construction difficulties of the steel-reinforced concrete structure, steel fibres are used to replace the stirrups and longitudinal rebars. Accordingly, a new type of composite structure is proposed: the steel and steel fibre reinforced concrete (SSFRC) structure. Four-point bending tests are performed on 18 SSFRC beams with different shear span ratios, steel fibre volume fractions, and shaped steel ratios. The effects of these design parameters on the failure mode, load–deflection curve, ductility coefficient based on the energy dissipation, and other key performance indicators are analysed. Increases in the shaped steel ratio and steel fibre volume fraction can significantly increase the deformation capacity and ductility coefficient of the specimen. A debonding mechanism of the SSFRC beam under the combination of a bending moment and shear force is proposed, which reflects the bonding failure at the interface between the shaped steel and the steel fibre reinforced concrete. The total energy dissipation and the energy dissipation ratio are quantitatively analysed. Increasing the shaped steel ratio can significantly increase the energy dissipation. Increasing the steel fibre volume fraction is effective for restraining shear cracks and least effective for restraining bending cracks, and this effect is more prominent for specimens with a smaller shear span ratio." @default.
