• W3094539784 abstract "The prognosis of unresectable locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC) remain dismal and the optimal modality is not clear. We compare three modalities including concurrent chemoradiation (CCRT), 125I seed implantation combined with chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone in terms of overall survival (OS) to determine which modality is optimal for patients with unresectable LAPC. Subjects were 71 patients with unresectable LAPC from three hospitals between January 2014 to December 2019. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS Statistics version20. OS was defined as the interval between the treatment and death or the last follow-up. The OS time of the patients was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazard model. The variables showing significant correlation in univariate analysis were incorporated into the multivariate Cox regression model to verify its independent predictive values. A P-value less than 0.05 was regarded as indicating statistical significance. The median age of the patients was 61 years old (ranging from 35 to 79). 29 patients treated with CCRT, 21 patients with 125I seed implantation combined with chemotherapy, and 21 patients with chemotherapy alone were included. The median OS of CCRT, 125I seed implantation combined with chemotherapy and chemotherapy alone was 20 months (ranging from 1 to 47), 11 months (ranging from 2 to 23) and 10 months (ranging from 3 to 31), respectively. According to the Kaplan-Meier method, patients with CCRT had better OS than 125I seed implantation combined with chemotherapy (P = 0.025), there was no significant difference in OS between patients with 125I seed implantation and chemotherapy alone(P = 0.933), as well as patients receiving CCRT versus chemotherapy alone (P = 0.105). CCRT showed OS benefit compared with 125I seed implantation combined with chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone for patients with unresectable LAPC. Prospective clinical trials are needed to further explore which modality is optimal for patients with unresectable LAPC." @default.
