- W3095116290 abstract "The article analyzes the problem of conflict of memories on the individual and collective level that became more intensive due to the active usage of the digital technologies. The efficiency of the use of common methodological approaches to the individual and collective memory is shown, in particular — epistemological approaches to the analysis of memory and historical knowledge. It is shown that memory — both individual and collective — is subject to distortions and is constantly being reconstructed, thus memory cannot be taken for the reliable source of knowledge. At the same time many researchers today see collective memory as having moral superiority over history, because history is seen as an ideological tool. It is shown that in contemporary world the digitalization processes intensify local collective memories and that leads to the emergence of contradictions between memories of different social groups that risk to become critical conflicts. It is substantiated that the way of dealing with this conflicts can be shown by turning to the historical knowledge. It is shown that history has epistemological superiority over collective memory, because it deals with knowledge while collective memory deals with opinion. The conclusion is drawn that while collective memory is important for the unification of the members of one social group, the role of history may lie in consolidation of different social groups that build the communities of the bigger scale." @default.
