- W3096008909 abstract "QTL Bw1 with the marker CAMS451 having the highest LoD score at its centre, has been reported to be associated with the bacterial wilt resistance in hot peppers. CAMS451 markers were amplified from the resistant and susceptible plants and sequenced. Sequence analysis had shown that in resistant hot peppers, a deletion of 20 bp in ORF1 of RRP41 gene extends the coding region, leading to the insertion of 28 amino acids in the protein. This structural change might be altering the functionality of the protein. Analysis of 2 Mbp flanking the CAMS451 marker had shown the abundance of defence related genes within the QTL. A total of 44 defence genes including 6 R genes, 9 transcription factors and ethylene, jasmonate and auxin synthesis/ responsive genes were identified. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Bw1 is highly reliable for MAS for bacterial wilt resistance in hot peppers and three markers, CAMS451 in the centre of the QTL, CAMS390/CAMS493 in the upstream and HpmsE062/HpmsE027 in the downstream, have to be used." @default.
