- W3100147431 abstract "Cardiac invasive electrophysiology (EP) procedures have advanced rapidly over the last decade. Availability of 3D electroanatomical mapping systems have led to increased ablation procedure safety and frequency. We evaluated invasive EP and radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA) procedures performed at a large metropolitan hospital. All consecutive patients (n=172; 61% males) underwent invasive cardiac EP studies and/or RFA, between 1 October 2016 and 07 March 2020 at Campbelltown Hospital in NSW with only one EP session per week. Patients requiring complex RFA procedures such as ablations for atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) were transferred to a nearby tertiary hospital. Median age was 57.5[IQR: 42-66] years and median BMI was 27.4[IQR: 24-32]. The indications for procedures are shown below. A 3D electroanatomical mapping system was utilized in 16.3% of the cases. Median radiation dose was 749 [IQR: 213-1769] μGym2. RF ablations were performed in 60.5% of EP studies, of which 87.5% were successful with a 1 year recurrence rate of 2.2%. There were no major adverse cardiovascular events (death, stroke, major bleeding, perforation, tamponade, or complete heart block). Cardiac EP studies with RFA were safely performed. Favourable clinical outcomes were obtained without complications over a 3-year experience. These results are consistent with the current published data from other similar centres." @default.
