Efforts to bridge the radio-infrared frequency gap, to network superconducting qubits over optical fiber, have benefited from piezoelectric optomechanics, but an alternative is to use the magnetic component of electromagnetic waves to control an optomechanical resonator. This work shows that such magnetic control of a torsional resonator is phase coherent, a prerequisite for quantum operation, and that such phase control can be used for classical information transmission via phase-shift keying." @default.
