- W3100637566 abstract "A current at the spark stage of a vacuum discharge under various residual gas pressures was investigated by means of a 1D-3V PIC-MCC code. A hemi-spherical vacuum diode was considered. The outer diode electrode was assumed to be a hemispherical anode of a constant radius 1 cm and the inner electrode (the cathode) to be a hemi-spherical explosive emission plasma front propagating towards the anode with a constant velocity 2.106cm/s. An initial radius of the plasma was set to 10−3 cm. The diode voltage applied was considered constant; its value was 50 kV. The residual gas filling the diode was nitrogen at various pressures from 10−1 Pa up to 5 Pa. Electron impact ionization, electron impact dissociation, electron excitation of vibrational, rotational and electronic states of gas molecules, elastic scattering of electrons and ions on neutral particles, and charge exchange of ions were taken into account. As a result of the simulation, the dependencies of the plasma-emitted electrons current density from the residual gas pressure were obtained. It was found out that residual nitrogen pressure of 10−1 Pa didn't influence on the emission current density, an increase in nitrogen pressure up to 1 Pa led to about 10-13% increase in the current density, and at 5 Pa the current density was 2.5 times more in comparison with the vacuum case. Also it was shown that ion-neutral collisions may affect sufficiently the emission current density under some pressure values." @default.
