- W3100823526 abstract "Right ventricular (RV) fractional area change (FAC) is a two-dimensional measure of right ventricular global systolic function and has been shown to correlate well with RV ejection fraction (EF) by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). The aim of our study was to evaluate the accuracy of RV-FAC measurements using an automated feature-tracking algorithm (TomTec imaging systems software; TRV-FAC) compared to manual measurements (IRV-FAC). A cohort of patients with non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy referred to our heart failure service from Jan 2017 to Dec 2017 were assessed. Manual RV-FAC was measured in the apical four-chamber view according to recommended guidelines. Both manual and automated measurements were performed offline by two independent researchers. In the event of underlying atrial fibrillation, an average of 3 separate measurements were used. Of the 290 patients (61.48±16.26yrs, 66% male) included 42% had AF, 18% had obstructive lung disease and 42% were obese. The mean left ventricular (LV) EF was 36.18±9.83%. IRV-FAC showed a strong correlation to TRV-FAC (r=0.88, p<0.01). The correlation between IRV-FAC and TRV-FAC was not affected by gender (male: r=0.90, p<0.01; female: r=0.87, p<0.01) or rhythm (SR: r=0.86, p<0.01; AF: r=0.88, p<0.01). Of interest, strong correlation between IRV-FAC and TRV-FAC was observed in mild and moderately impaired LV function (LVEF 40-50%: r=0.98, p<0.01; LVEF 30-39%: r=0.90, p<0.01) but not in severely impaired LV function (LVEF<30%: r=0.48, p<0.01). There was a strong correlation between IRV-FAC and TRV-FAC particularly in patients with mild and moderately impaired LV function, independent of gender or rhythm." @default.
