- W3104304885 abstract "Fiber reinforced polymer composite materials have been a major class of engineering materials. Their applications diversify between automobiles, aircraft, space vehicles, and others because of their notable offer of mechanical properties, ease of fabrication, and super design flexibility. Moreover, fiber composites are distinguished due to their light weight, excellent fatigue strength, and good corrosion and impact resistance. The current paper investigates the mechanical behavior of a unidirectional fiber reinforced polymer composite lamina consisting of fibers embedded in epoxy resin as a matrix. Micromechanical analysis is done on a square-patterned unit cell of the above composite to predict the longitudinal modulus (E1), Transverse modulus (E2), In-plane shear modulus (G12) and Major Poisson’s ratio (Ѵ12). These engineering constant are evaluated to three types of fiber (E-Glass, R-Glass, and S-Glass) with various fiber volume fractions based on the theory of elasticity approach. Computer Aided Design Environment for Composites (CADEC) software is used to do the numerical analysis. This theoretical investigation helps to realize the bearing ability of unidirectional fiber reinforced composite subjected to longitudinal load by analyzing the engineering design constants." @default.
