- W31050971 abstract "Breast cancer is the most prevalent of all cancer diseases in women throughout the world. In high incidence areas, as many as one woman in eight may be expected to develop the disease. Studies on factors affecting the growth and development of breast cancer have identified steroid hormones to be of importance, with perturbation of the hormone environment of breast cancer cells delaying the appearance of the disease and promoting extensive tumor remissions in established tumors (Nicholson et al., 1992). Since hormone manipulations are relatively nontoxic when compared with other therapies such as cytotoxic chemotherapy, they have become widely- established as a preferred first-line therapeutic choice in many breast cancer management programs (Nicholson, 1993; Nicholson et al., 1993) and have been proposed as potential chemopreventative agents in women identified as being at high risk of developing the disease (Costa. 1993)KeywordsBreast CancerEpidermal Growth Factor ReceptorBreast Cancer CellHuman Breast Cancer CellFibroblast Growth Factor ReceptorThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
